28 May - Kings Birthday

Kia ora koutou junior players & families,

Hope you are all enjoying the season so far! As we head towards the middle of Term 2, we have a few important updates, reminders, and exciting club events to share with you all.

🗓️ Long Weekend Break & Playing Dates

  • King's Birthday Weekend: There will be no play this coming weekend due to King’s birthday. Enjoy the extra time off with the family!

  • Play Resumes: Play will resume the following weekend (5th/6th June).

  • Term Dates: The remainder of Term 2 matches will run from the 5/6th of June through to the 3/4th of July, the end of term 2. Play will then resume after the school holidays, with the last playing weekend of the season being the 5th of September.

🛑 Crucial Reminder: No Swinging on the Goals!

We need a massive favour from all parents and players: please ensure there is absolutely no swinging on the goalposts at the fields!

This is a major safety hazard for the kids and causes expensive damage to our equipment. We have some brand-new 4x2m goals out on the pitches that we want to keep in top condition, so please help our coaches, managers, and game day leaders by keeping a close eye on the kids before and after their games.

📸 Team Photos Coming Up in Mid-June

Please also keep an eye out for our team photos weekend, which will be coming up in mid-June. Again, a detailed schedule will follow, and some game times may need to move slightly, to be able to fit all the teams in for photos. We are currently working through the logistics, and we will send out further details with a schedule of times for each team once we have that information fully confirmed.

🏆 World Cup Matches & Matariki Events at the Club

We have some fantastic events coming up down at the clubrooms, and we would love to see our junior families come along to support them:

  • World Cup Action (NZ vs. Belgium): Come support the team on the big screen! We will be hosting a club event down at the clubhouse on Saturday 27th June at 3:00 PM.

  • Matariki Celebration: Save the date for Friday 3rd July as we celebrate Matariki together at the club. More specific details on this event will follow soon!

To make these events even better, we will have specials on at the clubhouse cafe, and the bar will be open as well! Come down, grab a bite, and enjoy the atmosphere with the rest of the AUFC community.

🌍 Support Our Premier Women's OFC Campaign!

Our reigning OFC champions Premier Women’s team are preparing to head to the Solomon Islands this July to represent Auckland United and New Zealand on the international stage at the OFC Women’s Champions League! As amateur athletes balancing full-time work, study, and life, this incredible journey is largely self-funded. You can make a real difference through the "Got Ya Back" fundraising initiative. By sponsoring a player directly, you can have your name or business featured on the back of their travel hoodie. The campaign closes very soon on 1 June 2026, so please check out the players' individual stories and get behind the team today!

Enjoy the long weekend break, and we look forward to seeing you all back on the pitch the following week!
