New Zealand claimed the 2025 U-16 OFC Men’s Championship title and secured qualification for the 2026
U-17 Men’s World Cup! 🙌

They went through the tournament unbeaten and without conceding a single goal — topping Group B before going on to lift the trophy.

A massive achievement for these young lads — we couldn’t be prouder 👏

Auckland United Academy Player Matias Nunez (#10) was named in the starting XI for the Semi-Final match 🆚 Papua New Guinea, scored the opener in the 62nd minute, and capped off his performance by earning Player of the Match honours.

Auckland United Academy Player Matias Nunez (#10) was named Player of the Match for the second game in a row in the Final 🆚 New Caledonia.

Milestones achieved:

  • 1 Current Academy Player (James Wenceslao) and 2 Former Academy Players (Jack Clegg & Marley Hunt) made their international debut for New Zealand.

  • Jack Clegg scored his first-ever international goal in the Final.

  • Matias Nunez netted two goals for New Zealand during the tournament.

  • Matias Nunez was named Player of the Match in both the Semi-Final and Final.
